Effective Ways to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions
Most of us take up a New Year’s resolution with the best of intentions. Perhaps we start off strong the first half of January and then slowly lose motivation as the year goes on. Keeping your New Year’s resolutions isn’t easy, and our experienced staff at Rundus knows how difficult it can be to keep your New Year’s resolutions throughout the year. We encourage our Broomfield neighbors to stick with their resolutions, even when it seems impossible.
Here are some helpful tips on how to keep your New Year’s resolution:
Share your resolutions with others.
Telling someone close to you about your resolutions is a great way to hold yourself accountable and ensure you’ll honor them. Ask your partner, family members, or roommates to support you in your intentions. You might even invite them to share their own resolutions with you. That way you can encourage each other when things get tough.
Go easy with it.
There’s no hard and fast rule that says your New Year’s resolutions must start on January 1. If you prefer to wait a few weeks into the year to start tackling your resolutions, do what’s best for you. Try not to feel guilt for taking things at your own pace.
Prepare for potential stumbling blocks.
Not all resolutions are created equal, and some may be easier to keep than others. When you set your yearly goals, do your best to predict what may get in the way of you achieving them. Perhaps one of your resolutions is to wake up early in the mornings, but your partner’s late sleep schedule is making it tough to do this. Perhaps you invest in a sleep mask or earplugs to help solve this problem and keep you on track with your resolution.
Track your progress.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re on your way to achieving a goal if you don’t track your progress. Luckily, there are lots of ways you can do this now. Install a productivity app on your phone or put a paper calendar up on the wall where you can check off the days that you’ve kept your resolutions.
